WASHINGTON, Mar. 10 — Contrary to Washington spin, unemployment continues to rise as another “jobless recovery” enriches Wall Street.

While “official” unemployment stayed at 9.7 percent, real unemployment rose again to 21.6 percent, with more than 30 states reporting a rise in real jobless numbers.

WASHINGTON, Mar. 11 — Open threats of a trade war have been raised against the U.S. by France and Germany over contracts for military aircraft and talk of a European-run international loan agency.

Last week, the two leading EU countries accused Washington of playing favorites with the Boeing Corporation when it came to giving out contracts for a new tanker jet.

Obama’s New Jobs Bill Just More Corporate Welfare

WASHINGTON, Feb. 19 — After over one year in office, President Obama and the Congressional Democrats are finally turning their attention to the issue that got them elected in the first place: the economy.

The White House has submitted a “jobs bill” that will allegedly reverse the seemingly skyrocketing unemployment rate — “officially” at 9.6 percent, but really at over 21 percent — that the current crisis has created.

WASHINGTON, Feb. 28 — With only hours to go before unemployment benefits expire for nearly 3 million jobless workers, Republican Senator Jim Bunning from Kentucky continues to block a one-month extension.

Bunning, over and against even his own party’s leadership in the Senate, is demanding that the $10 billion extension be “paid for” prior to passage, instead of continuing the traditional deficit spending.

WASHINGTON, Feb. 12 — A multi-part series in the New York Times, the leading mouthpiece of the American ruling class, is signaling that a new “jobless recovery” is in the works.

Quoting economists tied into the capitalist class and sources at the Department of Labor, the Times article seeks to dampen any possible hopes among working people that they will be able to return to the standard of living they once had.
