WASHINGTON, Feb. 28 — With only hours to go before unemployment benefits expire for nearly 3 million jobless workers, Republican Senator Jim Bunning from Kentucky continues to block a one-month extension. Bunning, over and against even his own party’s leadership in the Senate, is demanding that the $10 billion extension be “paid for” prior to passage, instead of continuing the traditional deficit spending. Meanwhile, not one Senator, Republican or Democrat, raised similar concerns when it came to extending corporate welfare and paying for the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. |
