PORT-au-PRINCE, Haiti, Feb. 5 — As protests by victims of the Jan. 12 earthquake begin to mount, the efforts to organize workers’ aid has begun to show significant success. The Red Star Society reports that hundreds of dollars have been received and collected by the Miami Workers’ Center on behalf of the Batay Ouvriye revolutionary union. Those funds will go to providing much needed relief for workers in Port-au-Prince and surrounding cities who have yet to see anything other than U.S. soldiers re-occupying their country in the name of “humanitarian” neo-colonialism. |
